Bonjour! I am Mélisande and I am passionate about using machine learning as a tool to tackle societal and environmental challenges. In my research, I particularly care about understanding biodiversity and mitigating the biodiversity crisis.

Oct 24, 2025 - I received the Best Student Presentation Award at the Living Data 2025 conference in Bogotá.

Sept 28, 2025 - Our paper Bringing SAM to new heights: Leveraging elevation data for tree crown segmentation from drone imagery was accepted at NeurIPS 2025! I will be presenting a poster in San Diego on Dec 3rd. link to paper

April 28, 2025 - I co-organized the Tackling Climate Change with Machine Learning workshop at ICLR 2025. I also presented our work ` Assessing SAM for Tree Crown Instance Segmentation from Drone Imagery` at the ML for Remote sensing workshop.

Jan-Feb 2025 - I am an instructor at two exciting workshops, the Computer Vision for Ecology program, and the Landscape Carbon workshop organized with the government of the Northwest Territories in Yellowknife!

Sept 14, 2024 - Our project “Living as Nature ?” was presented at Agora du Coeur des Sciences UQAM to mark the end of the Co-Creating with Art and AI residency.

May 11, 2024 - We presented our paper Predicting Species Occurrence Patterns from Partial Observations at the ICLR 2024 Tackling climate change with Machine Learning workshop.

Aug 31, 2023 - Our paper SatBird: Bird Species Distribution Modeling with Remote Sensing and Citizen Science Data is accepted at NeurIPS 2023 Dataset and Benchmarks Track!

Apr 25, 2023 - Our paper Bird Distribution Modelling using Remote Sensing and Citizen Science data won the overall best paper award at ICLR Tackling climate change with Machine Learning workshop.
